Road Work Complete at James Record Road

The Airport Authority initiated the $6.2 million Industrial Access Road project in 2009 in an effort to replace temporary access to the new Navistar Big Bore facility on I-565 immediately east of the airport interchange, as well as to help enhance traffic flow at the interchange of James Record Road and Glenn Hearn Boulevard. Jeff Sikes Completes Service on Port of Huntsville Board 

Jeff Sikes completed eight years of exemplary service to the Airport Authority Board of Directors on December 18. Mr. Sikes brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the board, having served as a local business owner and community leader for many years. He was the owner of Jeff Sikes Mazda as well as restaurants, home furnishing, import and real estate development companies. He also served on the boards of BBVA Compass Bank, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce, MS Diversified Life Insurance Company and Mazda’s National Dealer Council.   View the entire article

Time for Winter Weather Preparedness at Huntsville

International Airport

Winter weather across Alabama, particularly across the Tennessee Valley, can have significant impacts on people’s lives. To prepare for the hazards of snow, sleet, ice and even cold temperatures, the Alabama National Weather Service offices --in conjunction with the Alabama State Emergency Management Agency --have designated Monday (November 14) through Friday (November 18) as Winter Weather Awareness Week.   http://www.weather.gov/huntsville

Holiday Tips for Travelers

With the holiday traveling period upon us, a few travel tips:

• Airlines at Huntsville International Airport recommend arriving 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours prior to your scheduled departure time for domestic travel and 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure time for international travel. ***Note that peak travel times at Huntsville International Airport include the early morning hours on Monday and the afternoon hours Thursday and Friday. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time during peak travel times.

• A government issued photo ID is required at check-in and security checkpoint. Boarding passes are required to enter security checkpoint. Check in on line, prior to arrival at the airport, or at the ticket counter or e-ticket machine the day of departure.

• Review your airline baggage fees, weight limits and processes in advance. All airlines do not have the same policies.
