HSV Capital Improvement Department Earns Industry Accolades

The Airport Authority Capital Improvement Department – along with several contractors working on various airport construction projects – were recently honored by industry peers with several accolades. On December 11, 2009, the Alabama Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) bestowed the organization with four awards:

• Huntsville International Airport received a Quality Pavement Award for Design and Construction Administration for the Huntsville International Airport Runway 18L-36R Overlay in the category of Airports.

• Wiregrass Construction received a Quality Pavement Award for the Construction of Huntsville International Airport Runway 18L-36R Overlay.

• Alan Clements of GW Jones and Sons Engineering received a Quality Pavement Award for the design of Huntsville International Airport Runway 18L-36R Overlay in the category of Airports.

In addition, the following award was presented by the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) – North Alabama Chapter:

• Fite Building Company, Inc. received a 2009 Award of Merit for the Air Cargo Expansion (new air cargo facility) in the category of General Contracting Pre-Engineered Building All Contract Amounts.
