Parking Deck Expansion Adds 1,300 Spaces

Huntsville International Airport recently announced the opening of the parking  deck expansion, which adds more than 1,300 spaces to the existing deck, bringing the total number of deck spaces to nearly 3,000 and total public spaces to more than 4,000. The expansion of the deck is part of an overall $26 million parking improvement project that will include improvements to surrounding roadways, relocation of exit toll booths, and the addition of more exit lanes to better serve customers. Taxiway L Goes Operational at HSV

Huntsville International Airport recently opened Taxiway Lima (Taxiway L), connecting the airport’s 12,600-foot and 10,000-foot parallel runways. The new taxiway, which is 25 feet wider than the existing taxiways at Huntsville International Airport, is designed to accommodate Group VI aircraft. Construction of the taxiway spanned a 4-year period and totaled more than $8.5 million. The development of the new taxiway helps to ease traffic flow and allows aircraft to easily transition between the east and west runway, thus saving time as well as money associated with fuel cost. New State-of-the-Art Comms Center Opens at HSV

Earlier this month, Huntsville International Airport opened its new communications center. The new center, which features a state-of-the-art, all-digital system with direct feed for weather and flight information display systems, enables the Department of Public Safety to continue offering superior security operations using the most advanced technology available. Industrial Access Road Project Makes Headway

In an effort to replace temporary access to the new International Diesel Big Bore facility on I-565 immediately east of the airport interchange as well as help enhance traffic flow at the interchange of James Record Road and Glenn Hearn Boulevard, the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority has initiated an Industrial Access Road project. The project consists of a three-lane industrial access road and will connect to a modified intersection of Glenn Hearn Boulevard and James Record Road to minimize ground-level crossing traffic.
