HSV Finishes 2008 with Increased Passenger Volume

Huntsville International Airport today announced it served 1,254,745 passengers during 2008, a 1.2 percent increase in passenger traffic over 2007. “Given the current state of the economy, we are extremely pleased to have ended the year on a positive note – falling just short of our all-time record of 1,265,153 passengers, which was set in 2005,” stated Rick Tucker, Executive Director, Huntsville International Airport. “We are certainly the exception to the rule with regard to most airports nationwide.” View the entire article.


WestWind Breaks Ground on Innovative Aircraft Facility

Jetplex Industrial Park tenant, WestWind Technologies, Inc., recently broke  ground on its new Huntsville Aircraft Modification & Integration Center at Huntsville International Airport.  Mayor Tommy Battle of Huntsville and Mayor Paul Finley of Madison joined airport officials, Redstone Arsenal military representatives, and Chamber of Commerce representatives at the milestone event. To meet the growing demands of the aviation market at Redstone Arsenal and nationwide, WestWind’s new 65,000-square-foot hangar will offer enhanced services for aircraft services as well as extended runway capacity by virtue of its location at the airport. View the full article.


Triad Properties Completes Second Phase of Jetplex Tradeport

Triad Properties has completed construction of a 102,100-square-foot speculative building – the second phase of its Jetplex Tradeport facilities. The first speculative building was completed in 2008. The buildings are suitable for light manufacturing and assembly and/or warehouse/distribution. They offer 24-foot minimum clear heights, ESFR sprinkler systems, skylights, 60-foot concrete truck aprons, and 9-foot x 10-foot dock-height loading doors. Graham & Company Begins Phase II of Airport Distribution Center

Graham & Company recently began Phase II of its Airport Distribution Center in the Jetplex Industrial Park, a 4,000-acre park owned by the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority. Phase II will encompass a 208,031-square-foot warehouse facility that mirrors the first building, which was completed in July 2007. That building is currently leased to Navistar Diesel of Alabama, which uses the facility to store parts for the company’s two engine plants located in the Jetplex. View the full article.


HSV Marks 12th Consecutive Year with Zero FAA Infractions

For the previous 12 annual certification inspections at Huntsville International Airport (HSV), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Southern Region’s airport inspectors have found zero infractions, meaning no serious fault with the airport’s documentation; initial and recurrent training; physical facility; or emergency response capabilities. FAA officials stated that HSV is to be commeded for the procedures it uses in the day-to-day operation of the airport and further commented that the appearance of the airport underscores the effectiveness of those procedures. Airport Employees Raise More Than $12,500 for United Way

During the 2008 United Way campaign, employees of the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority raised an outstanding total of $12,717 – a 113% increase over the previous campaign year. The Airport Authority has established a long-standing relationship with United Way. The United Way has served Madison County for more than 50 years and raised more than $77 million for our community. Local Paradies Manager Named National Manager of the Year

Louise Dyer, Manager of The Paradies Shops, Huntsville International Airport, was recently named “Manager of the Year for Division 4 Airports” nationwide. Dyer was presented with the award at The Paradies Shops’ recent 30th Annual Management Seminar and Merchandise Show. In addition, the Huntsville location was received the “Best Overall Human Resources and Payroll Management Award.” View the full article.
