All Eyes on the Skies
Airshow 2008 promises a number of exciting aerobatic performances in addition to the Blue Angels and Golden Knights, including the Aeroshell Acrobatics Team who will fly their WWII North American Advanced Trainers in a series of roaring and smoke-billowing formations known as the bomb burst, vertical rejoin, avalanche and “Switch Blade”. Then Sons of Legends pilot Matt Younkin mixes it up in his famous father’s original Beech 18 and later performs an exciting, non-stop act in his ominous “Mystery Ship”, dubbed so by the press in 1929 after they failed to acquire information on the building of the then top secret airplane.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get more exciting, Paul Johnson’s Wright Attitudes performs a unique plane & car comedy routine in which he lands a 1941 Clipped Winged J-3 Cub on top of a moving 1969 Pontiac Catalina. The crowd will be abuzz during Tom Reilly’s WWII B-25 “Killer B” bomber fly-bys followed by the ACC A-10 West Coast Demonstration Team who exhibits the extreme capabilities of the A-10 Thunderbolts. In the nostalgic category, the P-51 Mustang, a plausible WWII fighter-jet in its heyday, is sure to overwhelm senior veterans with its Heritage Flight.
The aerobatic flying continues with Red Eagle Air Sports, who’s Talon Eagle and Red Eagle planes provide a spectacular show remarkable in performance as well as sound. Finally, just prior to the famous Blue Angels, Patty Wagstaff will fly what has been hailed as the most thrilling low-level aerobatic routine in the world.
Well-known Airshow announcer, pilot and entertainer Rob Reider, will emcee Airshow 2008.
Performances and schedules are subject to change.
